On our way to Whistler in BC, we spent two nights in Sault Ste. Marie. We took the time to visit the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. This was the first big trip with our new Jeep, well new to us. What a great day to spend a day.
The museum is mostly about planes with a few old cars. We know that plans fly and cars shouldn't, and that's where our expertise ends.Nevertheless, the signs are very informative and the collection mostly covers bushplanes and firefighting. Just behind the old Ford is a water bomber. The doors are open to step inside and inspect the technology that keeps these beasts in the air. Not as
high-tech as we expected, but we leave the judgement to you.
This movie theater delivers on the 3D experience. We learned a few things about the coordinated efforts of fighting the wildfires. Now the 3D experience is not the 3 dimensions, it is visual and smell. Oh, and on two screens. They produced an outstanding show not to be missed.
We visited the museum in 2016, Some exhibits are likely changed by now. We are planning to go back and be awed again by the amazing displays. This exhibit is for all ages. Many of the planes were open to step inside, like the waterbomber.
