Mouse Without Border
Mouse without Borders lets you control up to four computers from a single mouse and keyboard. It also allows you to copy text or drag and drop files across computers.
I'm using multiple PCs including Laptop(s). My primary desktops is Windows 10 and an oder system still runs Windows 7. I have a Thinkpad X1 with Windows 11 and an old Lenovo G570 now with Windows 10 as well.
I hate the laptop keyboard and despise the touchpad with a passion. To resolve my problem, I tried external keyboards for a very short while. Until I found Mouse Without Borders. The limit of connected computers is four and I use them all. For me, it is important to have a seperate monitor active on every computer. In short, this is the ideal setup for my needs. I'm using the software since 2012 and never had an issue with it.
Mouse Without Borders is a Microsoft Garage project by Truong Do. All I can say is "very well done". It took me .2 seconds to love this tool. One keyboard, one mouse, three PCs and four screens. Yes, the laptop has a primary and secondary screen and it works without a glitch. I can copy/paste text and drag files from one system to the other.
There is not much else to say. The installation is quick and once setup, it will reconnect when a PC is powered up.
Some things to consider, the systems must runs on Microsoft Windows 7 and up. To get a good response, the PCs should connect on the same switch. My laptops use WiFi and work fine, but file transfer is slower. I use static IP addresses, so the PC names are fixed. They can be configured.
To download the program, search for 'Mouse Without Borders' and you will find the program in the Microsoft Download Center. It will connect Windows systems, if you run Linux or iOS, it will not work there.
There is not much else to say, it is simple and works.
